USAF or USMC for Communications?
Which branch of the military would be best to join for a career in communications? I wouldn’t mind joining either branch and I just want to know which one is best for that particular field. I’m only planning on a four year enlistment and I want to use my training for careers in the civilian world.
It depends on what specific job you get in the communication MOS.
For example, some jobs in the USMC communications translate directly to a civilian job while others do not. Same with AF.
And just understand that the two branches are nothing alike. Its rare that someone wants to join both of them. So make sure you know what you are getting into
Communications in the USMC can have you in the front lines leading the infantry into battle.

Well, I would say that it is most likely easier to join the Marines… since the Air Force is currently down sizing and generally only enlisting high demand career fields which are usually the ones that are hard to get people into.
But basically the Comm field will be similar, but the branches are completely different… being a Marine in the USMC, no matter what field you’re in… you’re a Marine, that always comes first.
Being an Airman is more towards the job and group from which you are affiliated… it’s all about your job, learning more and getting better at your particular field, which is with the Marines as well, but from my opinion with less distractions.
So… if you want to have training, along with pride, and Marine comradeship, long deployments, and a bad ass uniform, go USMC.
If you’re not too big on the "military" aspect and just want good Comm training and benefits… go USAF.
